To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU X-Mailer: Windows Eudora Pro Version 3.0 (32) Hi all, After reading all the posts on SMT to DIP adapters i decided to give it a shot. Here's a brief overview of what i've done. Size slightly bigger then a DIP18. SOIC18 sits inside the DIP18 footprint. Single sided PCB. Minimum Clearance 10 mils. Minimum Track width 10 mils. DIP pads includes centering drill guide. SMT pads 30mils wide to ease soldering. (for more matured folks ) Recommended DIP18 drill hole size 0.60mm (24mils) to 1.0mm (40mils). * DIP pad will be partially drilled off at 1.0mm, half a pad will remain to allow soldering. DIP pad nominal diameter 1.78mm (70mils). Free to anybody interested. Format is HP Laserjet 3 print file. Scale 1:1 Alternatively if anybody would like to post it to their web site kindly email me and let me know what file format is prefered. Terry (Below is a follow-up note that Terry sent along with the files...) "Since most hobbyist won't be able to drill 0.60mm holes AND still leave a nice whole annular ring to solder the DIP pins, be sure to let them know that partial pad drill-off must be expected especially when a 0.90 to 1.00mm hole is drilled."
